Well, you probably don't give a shit, but I'd like to see an updated "about me" thingy. You've been using the whole "butcher, baker..." thing since I was your student. That was in '07.
Also, "Tales of the Idiot"? Good man, save it for the milquetoast nebbish. "Idiot" denotes not only stupidity but a lack of good fortune. Mein heir, good luck and good people have smiled upon you. Schlub, schmuck, putz you are not.
"Tales from the Blessed" or "Tales from the Fortunate" is much more fitting. I will be frank and say that I don't care how many Iggy records you've heard; you're not an idiot. Also, I'll allow you to use it when fortune has not smiled on you as I know it has.
Animosity aside, I'm glad you're doing well.
A lengthy critique from the last person you need it from, sure, but save assholery for those of us deserving of the title.
A past asshole (also, a noted idiot),

chris, what a wonderful tribute to a much loved bar. i also have seen many bands there (jayhawks,milk,etc.,). i also have been intimidated in dealing with maggie when trying to get bands booked. i also broke up with or had someone break with me on those crazy seats while drinking something yummy or eating too much food.

i loved the place, and will always love the memories it provided. (uptown bar - the best gyro breakfast, and of course the best bloody mary's ever created, at least it seemed that way at the time)

Hey Chris,

Odd as this will sound, dialysis isn't quite as bad as you describe it. No doubt, dialysis sucks - and a transplant is a much better life. But, doctors who offer disability to those on dialysis are, sometimes, enabling a "give-up" lifestyle. I don't subscribe to such attitudes. I spent 8 years on dialysis during my last run. I worked full-time (more than full time, I worked in the movie industry), cultivated relationships, took classes at a City College, created some groovy sculptures. Okay, I stopped going out at night and I hardly ever saw friends on my dialysis days. But I led a full, exciting life.

I'll admit that having a transplant has been better. But now that it's failing, I am recalling how much I did while on "D." I hope you don't end up there, I hope you get a transplant - it's your first, so you're in good shape for a living donor. But if you do end up there, LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTORS. Your lifestyle will change and, to be healthy, you should change with it. Do what they tell you and you'll be fine.

Thanks for following me on Twitter, I update my blog regularly and I try to provide some pretty good information about the ride we are both on.

Cheers,
Jason
